A change in leadership
It is a time of change here at the festival, as we say good-bye to our Chair, Helen Fleming. We are so grateful for the devotion, wisdom, countless hours, and laughter that Helen has given to the festival not only during her tenure as the Festival Chair and Co-Chair, but for the many years of work on the committee. Helen has wrangled volunteers, provided guest hospitality, arranged flowers, written many newsletters and marketing copy, watched countless films, and did any little chore that needed attention with a smile! Helen was always willing to take on any task to heart.
In turn, we welcome Saundra Saperstein as she steps in as our new Festival Chair! Saundra brings with her a wealth of experience in the film and festival world and I know that you will enjoy getting to know her better as she steers the festival into the future!

From the Chair
I consider it a great privilege to serve as chairperson of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival. It provides an opportunity for me to contribute to an important cultural event which explores various aspects of Jewish history and identity as well as one that high lights notable Jewish figures past and present.
I appreciate having the support of the staff and the committee members in my new role, especially since I am relatively new to San Diego. I look to my previous years of experience with the Sundance Film Festival and the Maui Film Festival as well as to having participated in a focus group, served on the selection committee and partnered as co-chair for the 2012 San Diego Jewish Film Festival to provide me with a viable framework for the coming year.
Along with the staff and the festival committee I am excited to present new films and explore new ideas. We welcome the participation of the entire community and hope that you will share our enthusiasm for all of the film events in the coming year .
- Saundra Saperstein - Chair, San Diego Jewish Film Festival
